My School And College Life
After after 15 years at school and just a month in college the major differences between the two which i noticed i am going to share with you guyz.
I was born at Bombay. My first taste of school life was ma nursery days which i don't remember anything. I was enrolled in a Punjabi Nursery .My mom used to say that i never really liked that place. The turban clad sardar pandi used to beat me for my mischiefs. And i stopped it within 4 months. But i am totally against beating kids.
Then came Lkg & Ukg which i studied at BOMBAY CAMBRIDGE SCHOOL .Mom had told me that during my interview there i was given a chocolate which i ate on the spot and threw the wrapper there itself, but the guys were impressed by my active nature and they enrolled me. After Ukg i continued there till 4th after which i shifted to Kerala. But at bombay one thing i noticed was we were not forced to study the teachers used to concentrate on our special talents and hpoefully which i had none. i remember only few of my friends there Kashyup - a mallu, Parimal depala Ma best frnd there, siddesh, amit, dhruv & a girl named namrita who was our class monitor and had singled me out as the most notorious boy at school and had complained to the principal.During those days i used to sneek money from home and used to buy and give the girls there pavbhaji..cool me nah
Here at tvm i first joined NSS perunthani after which i become a Pucca desi babu from a pardesi babu. Here my focous was on learning malayalam and coping with the competition here.
The comes the worst part From 5th to 12th ----Arya Central School. My god we were treated like as if we were going to write IAS exam tomorrow. Here the motto was "All Study And NO Play Makes A Child Bhuji". The place really sucks. No excursion, no cultural activities & here the boys and girls never used to come near each other leave alone talking.A school which produces only doctors and engineers. Here during ma 9th standard me and ma friends were caught for bunking class and going for a movie(4-the people) my god the wide publicity which we received.
Then i met yhe most wonderful person i have ever met "Shankara Nararayana Iyer" his analysis of life , his views on studies, his knowledge truly astounded me i become a great fan of sir.
Then here comes the most colorful part-college. I love it. The freedom the joy , the sense of individuality wah- its the best place to be and at GEC Barton Hill it rockz. Even though the college has many infrastructural limitations the students here are like a family. I love this place whoever else says i hate it.

ReplyDelete"The comes the worst part From 5th to 12th ----Arya Central School."
ReplyDeleteNo come on! Arya wasn't that bad. :P
No. I'm not pro-Arya, either.
I like some of the days I'd there. I WAS fun. I meant, maybe I like my schooldays better than the college ones.
Nevermind, good to meet up another Aryan here (14 years there, Dude!). Or, do you like to call yourself an Aryan? :D
Know, you hate the place!
Schooline ithreyum adichu tazhthandaayirrunnu............nyways liked adventures of baby subin !!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI've heard worst accounts about ACS and being next door neighbours to ACS(i ws in KV Ptm) it always used to gimme a small ego to say that ACS isn't a nice place to study.
ReplyDeleteI've heard a lot abt them putting too mch imp to acads and i've never seen any1 frm ACS for a inter-school programme other than the TCS quiz. Bt then gettin most of their students into top engg/medical colleges is an achievement in itself. Even though that's not EVERYTHING, that sure IS something.
The plc used to be a jail back in th days i was in sch. They made it mixed for th 1st time when i was in 11th. And even aft doin so, the teachers used to keep a tight noose. I hated the idea of having teachers to wear lab-coats in classes. It makes them look like scientists doing expts on kids, rather than the affectionate figure of a loving teacher.
Bt the bottom line is "if i were to send my kids to a sch in Tvm, ACS wdn't figure in the top 5 or maybe even top 10"
Bt if u were so pissed off, why ddnt u convince ur parents that u wanted a change. Again u never know how other schools are unless u study there. The grass always looks green on the other side
So to speak, GEC Barton Hill is sort-of a haven for Aryans. Sample the 720 odd students, and you would find that about 100 of them might've studied in Arya at some point of their life! :P So, welcome to the club, buddy! :D
ReplyDeleteDuring my times at Loyola, I used to snobbishly look down at those Prisoner-striped Aryans! (Your male uniform does gimme the creeps) True that you guys have all the acads and stuff, but, it sure is JAIL, if my classmates are to be believed, that is.
Anyways, nice post!
